Parents’ Guide to Baby’s Sleep

Baby may sleep for half their first year. A newborn typically sleeps up to 17 hours a day. The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends babies 4-11 months old sleep 12-16 hours a day. Around 7-9 months, baby develops a regular sleep schedule. If baby is having trouble sleeping, try these tips:

1. Check their swaddle to make sure they’re safe and comfortable (swaddle until 4-6 months old)
2. Keep this “active” by playing during awake times
3. Keep the room cool, dark, and quiet

Remember to always keep baby on their back while sleeping. If baby is having trouble sleeping, talk to their healthcare provider.
